A traumatic event is an experience that can have a significant effect on individuals and groups.
Examples of these events are physical assault, verbal assault, bullying/harassment and traumatic and/or shocking events. A great deal of research has led to a greater understanding of how these events can seriously affect the safety and wellbeing of individuals. A recognition that what is classified as a traumatic incident will depend on each individual’s values, circumstances and experience.
